Double Glazed Unit Build-Up

The chamber heat insulating glazing unit comprises of two glass panes, including one Thermo float glass pane with an invisible layer of inert metals combination ( also known as the so-called “low emission layer” in relation to the heat insulation levels.

The space between the glass panes is filled with argon or krypton gas, which further reduces the heat transfer coefficient Ug. Protection against gas leak in the glass pane perimeter is ensured by using a good distance between frames alongside using two-steps of sealing plastic.

Safety Glass

Safety glass is required according to Building Regulations to all areas below 800mm FFL (Finished Floor Level), to all doors where glass panels is below 1500mm and side door panels within 300mm.

Toughened Glass

When glass breaks, the pane is shattered into tiny pieces with blunt edges. This characteristic makes toughened glass particularly suited for use in highly sensitive places(i.e. places with a high risk of causing the glass to break physically or as a result of places using heat insulation systems also known as internal thermal stressors).

Advantages:

Laminated Glass

It is a type of safety glass that holds together when shattered in the event of breaking.  Two or more glass layers are held in place by an interlayer usually polyvinyl butyral (PVB) or Ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA). The interlayer keeps the layers of glass bonded even when broken, and its high strength prevents the glass from breaking up into large sharp pieces. When the glass is damaged it showed a “spider web” cracking pattern.

At Wood And Home we offer diffident type of glazing

Texture Glass

Textured glass allows maximum light in while maintaining different levels of privacy. Traditional and contemporary styles give options to maintain required obscurity for privacy reasons with maximising amount of natural light coming in thought doors or windows.

Resin/Stained Glass

At Wood And Home we offer two option of stained glass to pass building regs, airtightness and thermal efficiently :

Resin glass which is an imitation of stained glass – this a technique of applying special resin on glass to provide lines, shapes and colours – it is like ‘painting ‘ on glass, but resin is fully bonded to the glass surface and will last forever

Make new Orignal stained glass unit by our specialist contractor or removed existing and encapsulated in double glazed units; stained glass is not sealed unit with air coming through that is why we sandwich it in between two clear panes of glass.

Decorating (etched) Glass

Upon reqest we have wide range of stunning decorative Etched Glass panel designs offer with excellent light transmission in combination with various levels of privacy. Our suppliers can also sandblast any unique design pattern.

Acoustic Soundproof Glazing

Acoustically insulating glass cuts out excess sound and harmful effects of noise in areas subjected to urban traffic, close to motorways or train trucks.

The acoustic soundproof glass has a special interlayer within a double-glazed unit which acts as a dampening core to reduce sound frequencies from vibrating from one pane of glass to the other. It acts as a barrier to noise.

Solar Reflective Glass

Excess heat caused by the sun can be a major source of discomfort, especially those with large glass patio doors on south facing elevations. With double glazing solutions solar control reflect and filter the sun’s rays, allowing natural daylight into the room but significantly reduced. That is why areas can be kept cooler during sunny periods .  Depends on the requirements we offer  variety of solar control glass solutions . The glass is manufactured by tinting and/or applying a metallic coating.

Spacer bars

Warm Edge Technology

Warm Edge Technology is a term given to a slightly different type of spacer bar, the term warm edge is based on the fact that the construction is fabricated and designed to conduct less heat or cold, in comparison to the traditional spacer tube (used in standard sealed units). We are using Chromatech or Termo TGI bars with different colours:

Aluminum

Colours

Available colours of spacer bars:

Grey (RAL 7035), dark grey (RAL 7040), black (RAL 9005), brown (RAL 8003), dark brown (RAL 8016) white (RAL 9016)

In order to achieve traditional looking double glazed windows with glazing bars we use the duplex –  spacers system.  The narrow timber glazing bars (duplex bars) are fitted to the sides of the glass, both on the back and front. Inside the double glazed unit we fit false spacer bars between the glass panes to give the appearance of individual units. By using special ‘built in’ spacers for duplex the double glazed minimum cavity thickness has to be at-least 14mm.
