Timber windows and doors London, Surrey

Extend the Lifespan of your Timber Windows & Doors

Finishes & Maintenance

Your new timber windows and doors will require a little bit of maintenance and, with care, will last far beyond the terms of the guarantees, even 60 years. Wood is a natural product and will encounter movement to cause hairline paint cracks, particularly at the joints, when exposed to the elements or changing temperatures.

The paint cracks can be maintained with filler and touch-up paint. is quite simple and does not require deep sandingor burning off paint. Leaving the external paint cracks exposed to weather for too long can result in an extensive water ingress, resulting in severe damage of the wood. To avoid this, we advise to carrying out an annual inspection to clean with wet cloth and maintain where necessary.

Timber Finishes

We use Teknos , a world-leading timber paint manufacturer which has research  on the life span of timber products  and proven that where timber windows and doors sprayed and  glazed in workshop  they will last up to a third longer . Those products will also require significantly less maintenance than windows that are glazed and painted on site.

For low maintenance, your new door will be spray painted in the factory with 4 coats of premium Teknos microporous paint or varnish. Furthermore, the paint is water based paint so when the time comes, you can quickly and easily tough up if accidently damaged.
